Single Parents Out Running Together (that was Heather’s inspiration! :) ) Our aim is to help and encourage single parents to get out running together. We know that exercise can be a difficult thing to be motivated to start, or get back into after having children, and the difficulties of having the freedom to exercise as a lone parent. We also know how good it is for mind, body & spirit to be doing exercise. To help you get started again, try some new exercise or just find others to enjoy running with, we are setting up a  running club for single parents.

Thank you to Oak Telecom for sponsoring us and buying running tops for our 6km and 11km SMILE On The Run. Heather and a couple of other SMILE mums also ran in Bournemouth’s full and half marathon.

There are currently no running sessions due to no take up. If you are interested, please let Alix know. If she can get running, anyone can! Why not start with our Zumba session at SMILE It’s Friday! a gentle ease in to getting fit.

Heather is also keen to get some cycling sessions, or various activities like volleyball/football/rounders going on a Saturday for families. So if you are interested in this, particularly if you have school age children, then please let me know.

We are always happy if other people want to lead a session at an alternative day and time to give options.

You can e-mail me at heather@smileconnect.co.uk.

Keep posted on the website, should arrangements need to change.

Hi, I just wanted to say that it’s been so lovely to run with those who have joined us. And to support those who run on the Thursday. It’s been exhilarating to be able to run! And we’re so blessed to be living in such a beautiful place … just being out there lifts the soul!

Heather is good at adapting for differing levels of fitness – whether you just want to walk, rollerskate, jog or train for a competition … it’s good to have fun together.

Nearly a year on from when we started SPORT and it’s been so inspiring to see so many of you join us. I just want to take this opportunity to say how proud I am of you all, you’re doing amazingly, and thank you Heather for pushing us when we needed pushing! And for being so patient!
I for one am absolutely amazed that I can run! And to be able to run 6km without stopping for our sponsored run will be such an achievement I’m proud of – I’ve never run before & I used to smoke, hurrah!!
